誤飲性肺炎で入院していた実家の父が来週退院できます。それまで父がいたナーシングホームは片道30分ですが、今の病院は高速道路などが通ってないので信号機が多い下道を走り、また駐車場も遠いため病室まで45分はかかるので早く退院してほしいなと毎日通っては思っていました。

The other day, the 20th, was my father's birthday. When I went to see him at the hospital where he was hospitalized, and congratulated him, he made the “okay” gesture with his thumb and index finger instead of using words to reply. He must have been sleepy or tired from rehabilitation, which just started two days ago. He now can sit down and eat, the food is still jelly-like, but by far better than fluid from a tube.

The hospital is farther than my father's nursing home, so it is good for me too, if he can be discharged soon.

  

L'autre jour, le 20, c'était l'anniversaire de mon père.  Quand je suis allée le voir à l'hôpital où il est hospitalisé et que je lui ai souhaité un bon anniversaire, il a formé un cercle avec son pouce et son index en guise de réponse au lieu de parler. Il devait être somnolent ou fatigué de sa rééducation, qui vient de commencer il y a deux jours. Il peut maintenant s'asseoir et manger. La nourriture ressemble toujours à de la gelée, mais est de loin meilleure que le liquide de la perfusion.

 L'hôpital est plus loin que la maison de retraite de mon père, donc cela serait bien pour moi aussi s'il pouvait sortir bientôt.
