Around this time of year, my son's school has a unique event.
All the students are supposed to walk 42 kilometers in 6 to 7 hours. It's usually a round trip race from the school. I thought that my son was embarrassed that I was the only mother who walked with him and his schoolmates every year. On the contrary, he looked worried that I wouldn't be able to get over the pain and recover from the backache by next Friday. I was moved when my son said that it was a shame that I wouldn't be able to take part. It will be the last opportunity for me to participate, as my son will be in third grade in his high school from April and he and his classmates won't join. The school will let them study or prepare for University entrance examinations, I guess they think that spending an entire day on the race is a burden for test takers. A lot of parents who are not interested in walking the long distance are allowed to cheer their children on near the course which is across many towns. As for myself, walking is not hard even if it is 42 kilometers, rather I am tougher than those students who don't exercises a lot on daily basis. Unfortunately last month I sprained my ankle, and now I have been suffering from a strange pain which I still haven't been able to diagnose. Now that my son wants me to walk as I did for the past 4 years, I really feel disappointed.
I'm going to take part in the walking race of my son's school tomorrow. This time, I won't be able to walk the the whole course, but I'd like to at least go to the destination.
Demain, je vais participer à la marche de 42 km qui se tiendra à l'école de mon fils.
